MAPLE SYRUP FESTIVAL
by Chris Wiener
I would just like to say that the Maple Syrup festival was a blast. Having heated cabins with actual stoves and running water was an improvement over little green tents and huge yellow containers of water. As a troop we were in charge of the B-B range. We were relieved by Troop 123 halfway through. It was almost all fun running the range. We did have a few problems, the main one being that we were shooting downhill; A major fault because there was a road downrange. After the day was over we were all glad that we could retire to our somewhat nice bunks. The last day of the festival Mr. Birnie said we were going down to the Chapel. What he didnāt mention was that we were taking a mile or so hike. As Mr. Birnie likes to put it, ĪOnly boys mess aroundā. He said this after we stopped repeatedly stopped to do this or that. Finally the hour came and we had to pack up. But I think we made lasting impressions on the people we served.
CAVING CAMPOUT - by Kevin Rankin
Even though I didnāt go on the Caving Campout I heard it was pretty cool. Among the people that went were Matt W., Daniel & Eugene T., Eric F., Brandon B., Chad D., Greg L. Martin, Zach S., Michael Gillespie, Brian Tulloh, and Kyle Arnold. Thanks also to Mr. Birnie and Mr. McKim for staying at camp and fixing a great dinner.
NEW SCOUTS - by Chris Wiener
I think I speak on behalf of all of Troop 268 when I say "Welcome to our Troop". Some of our new Scouts have joined us from the same pack as the Cobras, Pack 615 at Worthington Hills School. And some of them also came from Pack 333 at Evening Street School.
Our next victims..... I mean new scouts are as follows:
We all know we will enjoy having them and their families join our troop. Iām also sure that the old scouts will familiarize them selves with them. Please learn their names and what they look like. Again I would like to say ĪWelcome to Troop 268!ā
FLOWER SALE - by Mr. Harvey
On March 9th the Troop kicked off the newest fund raising opportunity for our Scouts. The Troop 268 Flower Sale, which is being held in conjunction with the Worthington Optimist club, runs through April 6th. Flats of flowers and ten inch hanging baskets may be ordered from any participating scout, for pickup at Selby Park on Saturday May 9th. The cost for flats or baskets is $12.00. Unlike the fall fruit sale, all profits from the flower sale will be deposited into the Scoutsā individual accounts. This is an opportunity for newer Scouts in the troop to earn money for summer camp. For details please contact the sale coordinators, Frank McKim (846-0351) or Tom Harvey (888-7904).
EAGLE PROJECT AT INDIANOLA PARK
by Kevin Rankin
Don Davisā eagle project was a huge success! A total of about 14 scouts and 9 adults were the main contributors to the project under Donās leadership. The project took about 3 months to complete mostly because of weather and the elements. When the wall was when finished it was 128 feet long. Mr. Fletcher was the major advisor to Don. A lot of time and energy was put into this project from a lot of key scouts that donated a lot of their time. Don will be giving a token of his appreciation to those who helped the most in the upcoming months. Don thanks the troop for helping make this project a big success!

DID YOU HEAR ABOUT...........
While two scouts were riding their bikes, a bug hit one boyās eye. It swelled and turned red and watery. His friend said "Boy, are you going to have a swollen eye tomorrow!" The next day they met and the first scoutās eye was clear. You couldnāt even tell a bug had hit him. His friend looked at him and said "Wow, that must have been one of those 24-Hour bugs." (from Boyās Life, April 1998)
