SCENE NIGHT
At Camp Lazarus we had a night of skits and such. I know myself had a great time. Especially the little dance the Dragons performed. I also like the one with the peoples problems and committing suicide. There were so many good ones I canāt name them all.
Although the skiing campout did not happen (because of prices), you could have gone on the Bushwhack. This campout was a ten mile day hike and participants were rewarded with a cool patch.
Mr. Wolfe had some pretty cool things to say about cross-country skis that I didnāt know about. That same night we played a fun game of baseball with a die. The Webelos were there to enjoy the fun too. Although I did really bad myself there were some good rolls made.
COURT OF HONOR
At the Court of Honor, held in December, meals were served in a new way. Guidoās provided the food instead of a bunch of parents and Scouts making dinner and bringing it in. Also at the Court of Honor, Order of the Arrow elections were held. To be chosen for this honor half or more of the people voting have to vote for you. Unlike other years where you could only vote for half the people on the ballot, this year you could vote for everyone on the ballot. The Scouts in the ballot this year were Erik Fletcher, Nick Harvey, Charlie Hoertz, Bryan Kossmann, and Kevin Rankin
Coming up, the Webelos are going to be crossing over to Boy Scouts. Some of them will be receiving their Toteān Chip right away. Those people are Mike Gillenpie, Don Frienman, Kyle Arnold, Justin Randles, Ryan Shields, Eamon Donovan, and Jonathan Gluck. These boys are from Pack 333
Wilderness Survival Campout
Don was happy because most of his troop (patrol) was there, something that hasnāt happened in a while. All the boys that went on this campout included Don Davis, Trent Perrin, Adam Rice, Brandon Ballinger, Eugene Talagrand, and David Talagrand. The main thing on this campout was going to the ice cream shop and sleeping in the shelters the boys made. This campout was held on Mr. Dawsonās farm. If you missed any of these activities I hope I gave you enough info to know what all you missed. -- by Kevin Rankin
Winter BUSHWHACK:
A journal of events, by Kevin Rankin
January 24, 7:30 a.m.:
Last night we made the gorp. There is a ton of it. The cabin is cold in the morning, yet it was warm last night. At the moment we are preparing and itās only 7:30.
January 24, 1:00 p.m.:
We have seen so many things that you canāt even begin to describe. Within the first mile we saw some beautiful rapids and falls. Although the hike is long and hard the fun takes over. At the moment we are about to eat lunch. Its only lunch and I feel like Iām going to die.
January 24, 10:00 p.m.:
It took 5 hours 43 minutes, but we all made it. We survived the Winter Bushwhack. And after our wonderful trip we went to "Youngās Dairy". Thanks to the fruit sale we all had ice-cream. I had a pint of ice-cream as did a few others. Of all the hike I liked the focusing part. If you didnāt focus your feet became tired real fast. But we did it, we survived the Winter Bushwhack.
FRUIT SALE RESULTS
This yearās Fresh Citrus Fruit Sale was very successful. A total of 24 Scouts participated, selling a total of $4,738 of fruit. The troop treasury was increased by $1045.38, and $1418.77 was added to Scout accounts. Thanks to Diane Blain and Jim Morrison for the use of their garage for fruit distribution.
HONOR PATROL
Last monthās honor patrol was great! Just to let everyone know we need to work on our behavior points if we want to get up there. Please note that the January points were added to the December points because of the number of meetings we had in January.
February Points: Cougars: 2
Dragons: 3
Cobras: 3
Scorpions: 4
SCOUT SUNDAY
Scout Sunday went great. I was surprised when Congressmen John Kasich walked in. Later I found out that he is a member of the church. I think he was quite surprised to see us there too. He may have also been surprised by how good we did, as were others. This Scout Sunday was said to be the best ever.

DUTCH OVEN Cooking: Southwestern Beef and Beans
This dish is spicy so serve over a tortilla chips. Add chopped tomatoes, diced green peppers, chopped onions, shredded sharp cheddar cheese and sour cream.
* 1 pound beef stew, cut in 1 inch cubes
* 1 medium onion. chopped
* 2 cloves of garlic, minced
* 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)
* 3 cans (16 oz. each) black beans
Combine the meat and next four ingredients in the dutch oven. Cook with lid on for 1 hour, 15 minutes.
Stir in the black beans. Replace the lid and cook for 30 minutes. Makes four servings.
Time for Dessert:
Lemon Pie
For this one you need one box of lemon bar mix (1 pound 8 1/4 ounces), Water and as many eggs as the mix directions call for. Do not get a mix that says it is a cheesecake.
In a medium bowl make the filling according to the directions. Set it aside.
Press the crust mix into a lightly greased 12 inch skillet. Cook over low heat for 5 minutes.
Pour filling over crust. Cover and cook over medium heat for 10 minutes or until the lemon filling is set and looks dry over most of the top. Remove from heat. Remove the lid. Cool for 10 minutes. Makes 16 pieces.
